December 5-9, 2013: Icemaggedon!

Well our temperatures dropped in 24 hours from 79 degrees to below freezing.  We even had temps in the teens overnight!  So when sleet and ice came the whole town shut down for 4 days for icemaggedon.
The kids went out and walked on the ice...then came back in 5 min later :)
This meant 4 days of being home bound for the kids, minus one daring trip 2 miles away to Mal/Dal's on day 3.  We literally ate the whole fridge and pantry making pancakes, waffles, chicken and dumplings, and tortellini.  We played lots of games, colored, painted, and play-dohed.  I did 10 loads of laundry and reorganized everything.   Nora is probably going through a growth spurt and slept even less while nursing even more.  Nick got to stay and work from home which was a bonus!

We woke up on St. Nick's feast day to ice everywhere and to see that he had filled our stockings with goodies (dvd, book, ornament, candy, toy, and Puffs)...

Our neighbor called within the first few hours of being home-bound for a playdate with Jackson.  The kids were happy to slide over to their house (yes we literally slid 2 doors down since we couldn't get the cars out!)

Our elves Wassel (Liam's), Holly (Bryn's) and Tinsel (Nora's) have been keeping us entertained by playing Twister with our toys, tracing themselves and eating our chocolate chips!
We did a lot of bouncing...

and a lot of snuggling...
We have been talking a lot about sharing with others and giving back and the kids loved shopping for our angel tree baby Sophia (who Bryn calls Princess Sophie the 1st :).  Because of the ice, the kids couldn't drive with me to drop off her toys and clothes they picked out but they are excited when we talk about her getting her gifts on Christmas morning.

Liam wrote his and Bryn's letters to Santa.  He sounded out and wrote his completely on his own :)  (He wants a light up scooter, transformer, game, hot wheel track)
Bryn wants a purple scooter, game and a toy :)
We also moved Bryn out of the crib and into her big girl room/bathroom!  So far she has done great in her "shine bright like a diamond" room :)

Bryn has been my little helper lately, cleaning alongside me, getting ready with me, and babysitting Nora for me. I was doing this blog while Nora (cat) napped and Bryn asked to type too.  She told me her message below says "Thank you for coming home dada".  Nick, your 2 hour icy commute home tonight will be worth it :)
