January 5, 2009: Liam's 1st Christmas and New Years!

This is going to be a long post because there is so much to catch up on! We have just returned from Louisville and Nashville where we spent the holidays. It was a long, but whirlwind trip as Liam met my entire family and lots of our friends. Liam did wonderful again on the flights. He is such an observer and Nick likes to raise him above the seats so he can 'spy' on other passengers for us. He had two long flights and the 3 hour car trip between KY and TN, but thanks to Baby Einstein DVDs we made it! As you'll notice Liam is growing (rapidly!) and is now almost 17lbs, 25.5 inches long and has a big head. No really, his head is measuring at the 90th% from his 4 mo. check up! No worries though, an ultrasound proved there's just alot of brains in there! We have had so much fun over the past month and although I can't include everything here are some of our highlights...
We flew in to Nashville before Christmas to be there for Corinne's 10th birthday. It was so good to see the Briens and to have them meet Liam!!

In Louisville we stayed with my cousins Max and Olivia who were great 'babysitters' for Liam! It was fun to see them interact with him, they were both very sweet

We took a family pic on Christmas Eve (minus Adam, Rachy, Cameron, and baby Cuatra-we missed you!).
Here are the Renfro cousins at our Christmas Eve celebration. We are actually ranked in age order with me being the oldest all the way down to Olivia...and now Liam!
Here is Liam on his 1st Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve night with my Uncle Tim, Aunt Debbie and cousins Tim, Britty and Tommy. We have spent almost every Christmas with them since we were little and I was excited for Liam to be there with us. He woke up happy and was his usual angelic self all day. I know Liam doesn't realize the significance of the day, but it was wonderful to wake up with him and enjoy the day with our family. Liam's gift to us was that he finally rolled over...and on Christmas morning! It was so fun that everyone was there to witness it...he's only done it a couple more times so we are still practicing with him.
Liam's big Christmas present was a train set from his Dallie. My dad got one on his 1st Christmas and he wanted his grandson to continue the tradition. So of course Liam had to dress the part...he is the CUTEST little conductor!!
While back in Nashville, Liam got to meet my girls Jess, Rach and Alli (we missed you Candy!!). We also took him on a tour of Vanderbilt and he got to see the soccer stadium his daddy played at. And of course we played alot of cards with the Brandons...Liam was not content to sit by and watch, he wanted in the game. This is definitely our baby...did we mention he's going to Vegas with us in a few weeks? :)
For New Years Eve, we went out to dinner with the Brandons and Wassels. Liam was not amused by the lobster that was served...Nick and I took advantage of having babysitters (thanks Mal, Keila and Paulette!) and went out to celebrate the New Year with Meha and Adam and Rach and Alli.
Speaking of babysitters, Liam had his first official non-family member babysitters in the form of Drew and Liz. Nick and I went to our friend Annie's wedding and they watched Liam for a full 8 hours. They pretend to have no baby experience but Liam was happy, fed, and his diaper appeared to be put on correctly :) Thanks so much Drew and Liz!! We enjoyed a fun night out with our friends celebrating Annie and Kevin's wedding.
This is the one year anniversary of our blog! I can't believe that it was just a year ago that we learned about Liam. It seems to be going so fast and I'm so glad we have been able to share our life with all of you. I'm going to end with some adorable pics of Liam...hope everyone is off to a wonderful 2009!
