Nick had an upcoming business trip in Seattle this month...so we surprised the kids by bringing them along! We picked them up from school and headed straight to the airport. Their reactions were mixed... :)

The kids did so well traveling on this trip...it's probably the age and now experience, but it's so nice to actually enjoy traveling with kids! We always enjoy once we are there, but this was a bonus :) Liam took a picture of Mt. Olympus over the clouds out our plane window.
We landed around 9pm our time, but the kids did great with the time change as well...
We also loved Seattle because of their great public transportation which means no rental car and NO lugging and installing car seats! Waiting for the light rail...
Light rail stop was just 4 blocks from our hotel. By the time we got there it was about 11pm and after ordering and eating dinner, it was 1am TX time when they went to bed. Again, we were so proud that they all stayed happy and calm (and slightly cracked out crazy!)
The first day there Nick went into work, so the kids and I headed out to explore. First to Pike Place market, a quick walk from our hotel, for breakfast!
We obviously couldn't decide so we tried it all!
We visited bubble gum alley...no touching Nora!
Friends had warned me about the transient population in Seattle, which I thought was weird. I know we are in the burbs now, but living in NYC and Santa Monica, it definitely doesn't phase me. Plus I don't think it's bad for our kids to see different lifestyles and talk about it.
The kids loved all the street performers as well, and we gave them each a few dollars to pick their favorites . Nora chose the balloon artist, Liam loved a singer belting out Elton John and Bryn chose a guy with a parrot on his shoulder who sang along to his piano songs :)
We walked from the market to the aquarium. The kids loved the sea anemones and that they would squeeze your finger when you touched them!
They also loved this octopus who creeped along the glass!

We were so lucky to have gorgeous weather! Checking out the sound...
Someone got tired of walking...and sea life :)
So the trip to the aquarium was down the hill...which meant our trip back up was...well, up!
All that walking made us hungry so it was back to the market for Beecher's famous Mac n Cheese!
And then some cinnamon rolls...
On our way back to the hotel we found a park...an urban park, which the kids thought was awesome!
We also found one of Nick's company's job sites!
After naps, we walked back through the park (it was only a block away from our hotel, so we pretty much passed it to go anywhere)
And onto the Seattle Public library, a very cool building.
From there we headed over to the Seattle Art Museum. They had an awesome area where the kids could "create"!
Then went to play in their kids area. We basically spent the afternoon here!
When Nick was finished with work, we walked back to the market (where else?!) to meet him for a great dinner at Steelhead's.
The next day we walked to a new stop with amazing reviews called The Biscuit Bitch. So when Liam ordered a bitchwich with sausage, I couldn't say much but smile :) His phonics are on point, haha!
These biscuit sandwiches were literally some of the best I've ever had!
After this we rode the light rail downtown a bit to do an underground tour of Seattle. We learned how the city was rebuilt an entire street level up after their fire in the early 1900s. Liam really enjoyed the history and loved the stories of moms in their full hoop skirts climbing ladders from the stores to the streets above (because they built the streets 3 years before the stores were built up to their level).

Okay yes. We went back to the market for lunch. It's just too much good food! This time we went to Pike Place Chowder. The kids were amazing at all the new places we tried. We made a rule that we would all taste the food from all the places we tried..and they ended up loving most of it!
The Russian bakery for dessert called Piroshky Piroshky...
Walking home to nap...haha, you know we had to stop again!
That afternoon we took a monorail from our hotel straight to the Space Needle. The kids LOVE public transport. Maybe it's the freedom front the carseat, but they live it up!
Outside the Space Needle was an amazing public park, so we headed there to play first...
After getting some energy out, we headed up the Space Needle!
Mt. Olympus behind us, it was a great view!
That night we headed to Japonessa and all shared sushi...
Liam is a convert..he loved it and refused to use a fork :)
The next day we took the monorail back near the Space Needle to head to the Children's Museum...
The kids played in the Korean house for a while and made us food in the kitchen ;)
They also had a great art center which we played at for a while...
We stopped by the Space Needle park to play one last time.
We loved the food, weather, ease of getting around and all the amazing things they had for kids! The trip home was just as enjoyable and we look forward to taking the kids on more adventures!
