June 1-13 2014: The Smiths "move" to TX and our Houston trip!

This month is officially when the Smiths moved (temporarily) to Dallas and we couldn't be more excited!!  The kids have played together every.single.day.  They made a list of alllll the fun activities they wanted to do together and have already accomplished most of them!

Scooters!! Probably one of the favorite activities of all the kids...
Making homemade granola...
Painting...
A special girls' tea party with Mallie, Lynn, Rachy, Pres, Anna, Tippy, Amelia, Bryn, and Nora...

Toddlers do not mix well with tea :(
But Bryn loved the tea party (and her sips of lemonade in her tea cup)...

Swimming...(yes, when the kids outnumber the adults in the pool they wear water wings)

Matching jammies make Nora crabby!
Story time with alll the kids (makes Nora crabby!-see a theme here?? :)  Okay okay it's not the jammies or story time, more likely that 5th tooth...
Pres and Bryn started their ballet together...adorable!

The four big kids started swim classes together.  Liam and Pres in one class and Bryn and David together in another.  They are all doing so well and really enjoying it.
Liam picked it up quickly again this year, jumping in and swimming to the side, swimming the whole short side of the pool, and going under for diving sticks.  He's now working on turning his head to the side when he comes up for a breath...

Bryn is doing awesome and likes to set her own goals each class :)  She will tell me "today I will stick my head under water" or "today I will go down the slide"...and she does it!

A fun girls night out with our mommy friends...
We hosted a back yard playgroup with kiddie pool, slip n slide, and moon dough!
Nora's measuring cups in the pool, of course!

Liam and his sweet Emma Kate sharing a snack :)

Dallie put up his big screen outside for movie night.  It was awesome and the kids LOVED it!

We are doing the summer book challenge at the library again.  Bryn pledged to read 20 books and Liam is reading 100 again this year.  Although this year he is actually reading them to us vs. us reading to him which is so cool!  He has been 'reading' for over a year, but this summer I can really say he is truly reading on his own, fluently, even sounding out most big words without help.  He's skills continue to impress me with his context clues, phonetically sounding out words, and how fast he reads...
Playgroup at indoor soccer field...

We made a quick trip down to Houston one weekend for Carson's graduation and my cousin Mia's baby shower (although I didn't get any pics from the shower, boo!).  Nora was sleepy on the way down but would not fall asleep since it was still too light out...so we improvised :)
It worked, hands went into position and she slept the whole way!
Despite two parties in one day, we also fit in a quick visit to the Space Center.  The kids were showing Grandma their 'movie theater' and headphones that they get to use on road trips...
The space center was awesome!  Nick and Liam did a space simulator that was a big hit with both boys...

My little astronauts :)

Trying to lift weights on different planets...

Our view from the moon...
And of course the 2 story slide was a hit with the kids...and Nick...

I don't have many pics from the graduation party, but I did love this one of Carson and Liam.  Liam LOVED hanging out with Carson and his buddies, playing ping pong and ladder ball.  They were all so nice to indulge him and he was so happy to be one of the big boys :)  The kids had so much fun that they didn't want to leave.  Although I didn't get a picture of her, Bryn laid on her back under the dining room table in a 'silent protest' and wouldn't come out to leave.  Carson got down under there with her in support :)
Nora was a happy girl on the drive home with her new teddy bear and getting to hold Bryn's beloved Oliver...
