June 6-19, 2016: Beginning of summer break and Father's Day!

It's officially summer!  We made a list of all the fun adventures and activities that we want to do over the next 12 weeks.  On Liam's list was cooking lessons.  He made shrimp pesto pasta one night and then a taco bar the next night!
The girls had ice cream on their list, haha not surprised!
Bryn did one week or art camp and Liam did a week of Lego robotic camp...
Liam also started fencing with his best buddy Justin...
And...we still had soccer.  Always soccer :)  Liam icing his face after getting kicked...risks of being a goalie :/
We started back in the kids bowl free program for the summer...this time Fox got to join us!

We had a nice, low-key Father's day.  Nick got great cards from the kids...

and we spent the rest of the day with Dallie in the pool!
 Happy Summer!!

June 3-6, 2016: Bryn's trip to NYC!

It was finally time for our trip with Bryn to NYC!  She was so excited, she packed herself.  Girl after my own heart, haha :)

We flew into LGA and were picked up by my college bestie Susannah!  She took us back to her house in CT and we hung out with her husband Dave and girls Sophie and Alice.   (boo for not getting one pic of me and Suz...such is mom life)
Sophie is a year younger then Bryn and they were instant best buds :)  Slumber party the first night...
We went to the beach which is just walking distance from their house...

Great weather, cold water, collecting lots of shells (which Bryn carted home for her shell collection series of her next art show!)

Nick and I got to meet the littlest one, Alice, this trip.  She is a sweetie!

Before leaving, we went to the BEST donut place...nutella donuts, french toast, red velvet...they were crazy good!
We were sad to leave, especially Bryn who really bonded with Sophie...

They dropped us off at the train station and we headed into the city!
A little cat nap on the train...
 We are here...Grand Central!
That night we walked from our hotel to Central Park to play...

 Subway to Bryant park...
 Carousel, because why not?
Of course she picked Chinese for her first dinner!  We found a great place with her fav, chicken friend rice...
We then headed to Times Square...

 and Rockefeller center...
and on our walk back to the hotel, the rain started...and didn't let up all weekend!
We were better prepared the next day :)

Nick had to do a little work, so B and I headed for brunch at a cute place on the Upper East Side...
 Hailing her cab...
We headed to the Met where Nick met us...
I just knew our little artist would love it!

She loved the 5's like her :)
We spent a lot of time in the contemporary section where she knew lots of the artists from school, like Jackson Polluck, Picasso, and Salvador Dahli...

She was so mature throughout the museum, even in the European paintings where there are lots of naked babies, women and breastfeeding (but I guess she's used to that last one!).  But the one place she could not keep her cool was the Greek/Roman statues... "Arghhhh, his bottom is showing!"
Back on the subway, her favorite form of transportation because she could stand :)
Burgers and hot dog at Shake Shack...
Afternoon matinee of Matilda on Broadway!

The rain let up for a bit so we walked to a nearby park...

but when it started up again, we headed to dinner...

Then it was on to dessert!  Since it was our last night, we went all out at the Holey Cream.  A donut sandwich with ice cream inside and fruit loops on top!

Poor Bryn just weaned off her reflux medication, so about halfway through this she realized her eyes were bigger than her tummy and that her reflux is def set off by overeating :(  Luckily, since we've been home that hasn't happened again, so she does a pretty good job of listening to her body. We had an easy flight home and were happy to snuggle Liam and Nora, who had a fun weekend with Grandma and Mallie!
